Delight in the All White Bed

The foundation of my company is elegant white linen. A bed dressed in white on white is always perfect and welcoming. The serenity of white creates an aura of sanctuary in today’s too-busy world. With all the technology and media stimulation…shouldn’t we try to just breathe? White clears the clutter of the eye and the mind. We all need our bed to be the place for peace and repose. White makes the space look larger and uncluttered.

There is no doubt about the power and pleasure of white linens.

TIP: If perchance you spill a drop of coffee, or get a smudge of makeup or mascara on your fresh white linens—try an instant spot cleaner like Tide to Go, tide.com, or Dryel On the Go Stain Pen at dryel.com. Problem solved!

Pillow Talk

A collection of pillows, shams and cases is a quick and wonderful way to reboot your bed. Whether you like perfectly matching pairs or prefer a more casual look with pillows of various sizes and shapes… combine coverings with a mix of textures, embroidery and appliqués. Work within a single color palette like green or blue or go for lively combinations like green and pink for spring or coral and black for winter.

Did you know that Haute Home Linens are available in any of the French DMC thread colors? Just name your colors and pile on the pillows. Add flowers or a throw in complementary colors and voila! Instant decorating.

The perfect pillow = a really good night’s sleep. Check out thecompanystore.com and scandiadown.com for lots of choices.

At dmc.com you can view thread color cards showing all the colors available for embroidery.

Coral – My favorite color

Yes it’s true I love coral. This magical color is the most flattering to wear and it adds life and joy to a room. It’s so versatile I call it the new “neutral.” Coral has the energy of red, yet softer; the flattery of pink yet more sophisticated..the cheeriness of yellow yet more unexpected.

As a designer I’m always exploring shades and color combinations. The many beautiful coral tones always work, they never disappoint!

Coral is a natural with all shades of blue; it has a botanical feel when combined with green and it adds a decided pop as an accent color with brown or black. It goes soft focus when combined with beige, ivory and desert tones.

Next time you’re thinking of a new accessory, an easy update or adding color to a room think of a luscious, beautiful, eye catching dash of coral. Think of it as the new neutral, I do!
